We are pleased to announce the scholarship that will be offered by the Rubber Roller Group for the 2016-2017 school year.

Larry Almeida Scholarship

The Rubber Roller Group is pleased to announce the Larry Almeida Scholarship. The annual scholarship is given in honor of Larry Almeida, of Contact Rubber Co., whose many years of service to the industry typifies the strength of the entrepreneurial spirit.

Applications for the Larry Almeida Scholarship for 2016-17 must be received by July 1, 2016. Whether submitting by email or postal mail, please send all information in one packet. Applications are available to manufacturer and supplier members:

  • Child, grandchild or employee of a Manufacturer Member in good standing with the Rubber Roller Group.
  • Child, grandchild or employee of a Supplier Member in good standing with the Rubber Roller Group.
  • Child of an employee of a Manufacturer or Supplier Member in good standing with the Rubber Roller Group.

Description and Rules

The scholarship, in the amount of $1,000, will be available each year to graduating high school seniors who plan to attend a college or university in the US or Canada. Students currently enrolled in an institution are encouraged to apply, but priority will be given to high school seniors. A Rubber Roller Group member is considered the student's "sponsor" and must sign the student's application form. The student must plan to major in a business or technical field (i.e. management, accounting, engineering, chemistry, etc.).

To be considered for the scholarship, the student must submit the following by either email or US Mail to the Parliamentarian. Please submit all information when applying.

  • Signed application
  • An essay discussing the role of manufacturing in the overall economy of the United States
  • High School transcripts
  • SAT or ACT scores
  • Acceptance letter to college or university

The information is forwarded to the parliamentarian who will oversee the selection process; the final selection will be made by the Board of Directors. The Group's decision will be announced to the selected recipient by August 15th, and payment will be made directly by the group's secretary/treasurer to the student.

LORD Corporation Science Education Scholarship

The Rubber Roller Group is pleased to announce the LORD Corporation Science Education Scholarship. In our commitment to promote opportunities for students in the fields of science and engineering, LORD Corporation is offering a onetime $1,000 scholarship to a High School Senior. The Rubber Roller Group Parliamentarian who will oversee the selection process; the final selection will be made by the Board of Directors. The Group's decision will be announced to the selected recipient by August 15th, and payment will be made directly by the group's secretary/treasurer to the student.

Description and Rules

  • High School Senior interested in pursuing a degree in the sciences from an accredited four-year program. Student must have acceptance letter to such an institution upon acceptance of the scholarship.
  • Recipient must have a minimum GPA of 3.4 throughout high school..
  • Recipient should have community service, volunteer work, or research associated with interested field of study in sciences or engineering. This information can be included on the application or submitted as an attachment.
  • Recipient must be a child or grandchild of a Rubber Roller Group Supplier Member or an employee or child of an employee of a Manufacturer Member in good standing with the Rubber Roller Group.
  • Recipient will provide a recommendation letter from a teacher in the math or science fields and from a guidance counselor or an adult that has worked with the applicant.
  • Recipient will write an essay on what science means to them and what they plan to achieve with their education. Instructions:
